Congratulations to the six nominees for making the longlist, which were determined by the carte blanche Editorial Board. Three finalists from this longlist will be selected in the coming weeks by our guest judge.

We, at carte blanche, are delighted to announce that the judge for the 2019 3Macs carte blanche Prize is Alessandra Naccarato! The winner will be announced at the Quebec Writers’s Federation’s Award Gala on November 5, 2019.

Alessandra Naccarato is the recipient of the 2015 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers and the winner of the 2017 CBC Poetry Prize. Currently based in Toronto, she holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and has toured nationally and internationally as a spoken word artist. Her debut poetry collection, Re-Origin of Species (Book*hug, 2019) combines personal narrative and natural study to tell a story of adaptation and evolution.

The 3Macs carte blanche Prize is awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding submission by a Quebec writer or translator that has been published in carte blanche within the year. The prize is sponsored by 3Macs/Raymond James. The winner of last year’s 3Macs Prize was Alisha Dukelow for “loss of (her)self.”
