This year marks the tenth anniversary of The Doug Wright Awards For Canadian Cartooning, and they’re calling on you to help celebrate! Earlier this month we were super excited to learn that our comics editor, Georgia Webber, had been nominated for her series Dumb. We are happy to report that she’ll be among the artists contributing to a special commemorative zine to mark the occasion, but not without your help.
As Georgia tells us on her blog:
“To commemorate 10 years of celebrating Canadian comics artists, both of contemporary and legacy standing, the DWA’s have invited past winners and nominees to create original art based on Nipper, one of Doug Wright’s most beloved characters. If this campaign gets funded, there will be a 10th anniversary zine of all the contributions available for purchase at the awards!!
Among the creators who are contributing to the campaign and book: Seth, Chester Brown, Joe Ollman, Michael Cho, Pascal Girard, Michael DeForge, Diana Tamblyn, Dave Collier, Alex Fellows, John Martz, Ann Marie Fleming, Michael Comeau, Katherine Verhoven, Matthew Daley, Tin Can Forest, Chris Kuzma, Dakota McFadzean, Kate Leth, Eric Kim and me!!!”
The kickstarter campaign is off to a great start, but there are still 12 days left to get involved and contribute.
