Announcing the shortlist for the carte blanche/CNFC competition

carte blanche and the Creative Nonfiction Collective Society are pleased to announce the shortlist for our 2014-15 creative nonfiction competition.

The winner of the competition will be announced on Saturday, April 25th at the 11th Annual CNFC Conference in Victoria.

The shortlist was selected by competition judge Charlotte Gill.

“Schrodinger’s Dog” by Marion Agnew

Marion AgnewMarion Agnew writes fiction and creative nonfiction from Shuniah, Ontario, near Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior. Two essays, both about her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease, appeared in Best Canadian Essays (2012 and 2014). You can read more about her at www.marionagnew.ca.

 

 

“Nana Technology” by Kirsten Fogg

kirsten fogg Kirsten Fogg is an essayist and wanderer who is currently working on a collection of essays, interviews, and book reviews on belonging at www.thebelongingblog.com. She is the writer in residence at Milpera State School for refugee and migrant children. Her articles have been published in The Chicago Tribune, The Globe and Mail, The International Herald Tribune and many other world newspapers. She lives in Brisbane, Australia.

 

 

“I moved” by Elaine Johnston

In Grade 7 Elaine Johnston won the Fire Prevention Essay Award, and she has never looked back. She lives in the Gulf Islands with her wonderful, talented cat, and a husband.
