Construxion Humana

Mexico City is a floating metropolis. Formally known as Tenochtitlán, the city was constructed on lakes and rivers. Cement transposed over years, seamless.

There is a particular human tendency to construct, to mimic, or mutate the self into a manifestation of the environment. Within an ecosystem of rigid structure undermined by the chaos of volatile powers, memory rumbles below the pavement.

Meredith Jay is a multimedia artist from Quebec, Canada. After obtaining her BFA in Montréal she moved to Mexico City where she established her independent practice. Recently relocated to Toronto she continues to paint, draw, film, sculpt and learn. Her work investigates the amnesiac behaviour of collective memory. @murderith
